– ‘Dutch tap takeover’ PLUS Rooie Dop + Oedipus bottle tasting / Thursday 22nd Jan 2015
To launch our fourth birthday celebrations we proudly present a mini Dutch tap takeover courtesy of Rooie Dop and Oedipus, who will be showcasing three exclusive keg lines each! These will be available on the bar from 6pm, then upstairs from 7pm Mark Strooker from Rooie Dop + Paul Brouwer (Oepidus) will be hosting a bottle tasting session in our saloon. This will be a ticketed event priced at £15 which will get you a selection of tasters, each introduced by the brewers themselves.
This will be our first event for 2015, plus it launches our fourth birthday week long celebrations, so come join us for lots of Dutch fun! Tickets are on sale now in person from the bar or online via Eventbrite
For more brewery information, please read on :
Oedipus Brewing, a micro-brewery established in 2011 by four friends in Amsterdam. For Oedipus there’s not just one delicious beer. Beer can taste endlessly diverse which they try to let people taste through their selection which continually expands.
Their Brewpub (opening early 2015) will brew a new beer every week, enabling them to experiment and broaden their selection. Oedipus brew for everybody who’s open for new flavours, it doesn’t matter whether you’re new to drinking beer or even a beer geek. Oedipus have it covered.
Rooie Dop is a craft brewery from Utrecht, The Netherlands, who makes awesome, flavourful beer, sometimes experimental. Rooie Dop doesn’t care about style guidelines, they care about flavour. Brewers and craft beer drinkers are passionate about beer and want to have a good time and good beer. Rooie Dop totally agrees on that.
– End of Year Review 2014 – the results
Here it is, the inevitable ‘Port Street Beer House End of Year Review 2014’, the beers aren’t in any particular order, however we did do a quick tally of the best brewery category, we are proud to say Buxton came out on top, in second place Siren and a close third we have Magic Rock.
Hope you enjoy reading through these lists, thanks to everyone who contributed, especially the person who put ‘Clown Juice’ for every single section, your entry was unfortunately not submitted.
Hope everyone enjoyed the year they called twenty fourteen, happy new year and all the best from all at Port Street Beer House.

Too many… Comparing High Wire & Oregon at Jackalope’s first birthday in Chorlton, drinking far too much of both & trying to make the ultimate West Coast Pale by blending the two. Cracking a 2010 Goose Island Vanilla Bourbon County at one of the first staff meetings after joining the PSBH team after saving it for 4 years! Starting brewing again & brewing a bretted beetroot saison as a last brew with a mate before he moved down to London, still not ready but hopefully going to taste great! IMBC, every year obviously! (Are we contractually obliged to say that?). I’m sure there’s more. There always is.

A close tie between starting work as a brewer and having the privilege to attend the Copenhagen Beer Celebration. I’m very happy that I’ve somewhat found myself a part of this great worldwide beer scene and get the chance to meet and drink with some of the best Brewers in the universe (unless space beer is a thing)
– Christmas Hampers 2014
It’s that time of year. Again. How did it come around so quickly? Last Christmas was only a few weeks ago wasn’t it? Or was that Hallowe’en? There was something I’m sure. We just spend the year celebrating one thing after the other and it all becomes a big blur. Which one’s Christmas? Oh yeah. Family, friends, sprinting home from the pub to have a cup of tea with your Dad before he goes to bed (yes, I once did that), eating far too much and… PRESENTS! Presents are great. They’re just occasionally a bit tricky to get right. Well hopefully this will help give you a few ideas of things to buy for your loved ones. Or yourself.
Is this something that just happened in my house, or did everyone have this? I’d wake up every Christmas day with a Christmas stocking hanging off the end of my bed, reach in and find several tiny cans of assorted carbonated beverages. I never understood why Christmas was the one day of the year where it was okay for the first thing I eat/drink to be a sugary fizzy drink, but apparently that’s how it goes. Well if it wasn’t just my household that did this why not up your game this year & treat your loved ones to one of our Stocking Filler Christmas Hampers…
CANS **** / £26.50

2. Founders – All Day IPA
3. Beavertown – 8-Ball

You’ve got too much to worry about on Christmas day; you’ve already managed to buy the same present for someone twice, the kids only want the toys that make the most annoying noise & your head’s still pounding from meeting up with friends who you only see once a year on Christmas Eve and the dog’s eaten the chocolate log & is in urgent need of a trip to the vets. Let us select some beers for you to help you wash down the driest meal you’re going to have all year…

Granddad, if you’re reading this, I don’t need another crate of really tediously boring bitters this year. I’m sorry. I just haven’t the heart to tell you they’re awful. There’s still some leftover from last year. There might even be some leftover from the year before. The amount of drunk I’d have to be to drink them is too drunk to drink more. I’d much rather have this UK hamper Port Street Beer House has lovingly pieced together…
UK / £35.75
1. Buxton – Grain and Grape
2. Weird Beard – Bearded Nurse
3. Five Oh Cretin Hop
4. Partizan/Mikkeller Barrel Aged Quad
