Who was your beer supplying hero of 2020?
Wild Horse Brew Co. in Llandudno. They do a cracking free delivery to North Wales. They are always releasing new beer that has been consistently pretty great.

Beer experience of 2020
Me and my bro went on the brewery tour at Cloudwater back in February just before the world turn upside down. Really interesting experience having a 10% porter handed to you before 12pm. The tour itself was very engaging and fun. At least I think it was, I was swaying a little on my way out.

Hopes and dreams for 2021?
Hoping I’ll actually be able to visit my local pub, get to know the locals and practice my Cymraeg. I don’t even mind what the beer is like, just be nice to be in a pub again.

What’s the next big thing for beer in 2021?
I think there might be a move to more traditional British styles (bitters, milds etc.) I’ve noticed more bitters from more trendy brewers recently. Plus this Brexit nonsense may make it more expensive to source certain hops. So this may cause a move to less hop forward styles. Or maybe Tiny Rebel will do a collaboration with Greggs and make a Steak-bake Stay Puft. Who knows!?

Beer experience of 2019

Arlo-Attenborough Greenway’s and Carl McBride’s leaving do. A proper send-off to two great dudes, food prepared by my talented older brother (Euan), and Kernel Foederbeer on keg for a ludicrously low price. Good friends, good beer, great experience.

Hopes and dreams for 2020?

That people continue to be nice to each other. Those that aren’t? Cut that nonsense out! Grab a beer, make a friend, respect your environment. Don’t be a silly.

What will be 2020’s beer trend?

IPA’s so hazy, it make you go crazy. Not a fan of this personally, I just want some decent malty boys on the regular.

Mobberley Brewhouse

Beer experience of 2019

I attended the Sheffield Beer Festival at Kelham Island. It had a huge selection of beers. Most of the beer was pretty average but there was an opportunity to watch a heritage steam engine being operated. A group of Spanish students couldn’t finish their beef jerky because it was too spicy and they were kind enough to give the rest to me and my friends. It was that spicy it was like an outer body experience. Tremendous fun.

It wouldn’t be a birthday without A BIRTHDAY BEER. Five Points are coming up to Manchester to brew a beer at the almighty Squawk. SQUAWK SHOWCASE
Find 4 x Squawk Brewing Co hits pouring on our UPSTAIRS BAR all night long. Squawk are one of our favourite Manchester breweries so we wanted to get them in on the party. Five Points downstairs, Squawk upstairs…gotta catch ’em all!

We’ve asked our friends Lucy & Iwan at Siop Shop to whip up a 9th Birthday STOUT CAKE. Free slices from around 6pm…while it lasts (which won’t be long). It might have some Five Points in it. Who knows!

Hope you can join us. Thanks for visiting over the years. Your presence is presents enough.
