– Alphabet Brewery Tap Takeover / Thursday 30th April – 7pm
April’s rich vein of takeovers at Port Street continues with the launch of Manchester’s Alphabet Brewery. A small craft brewery based behind Piccadilly Station focussing on making fun beers with big, bold flavours. Head brewer is Tom Evans, previously of Huddersfield’s Hand Drawn Monkey. Pump clips by famed Manchester street artist and illustrator, Hammo, mirror the brewery’s excitable intent.
We first tasted Alphabet’s output in the shape of A to the K, an oatmeal pale ale, back in January at our belated Christmas party. Our staff drained a keg in little over an hour, it was that good! Some of you may too have been lucky enough to have tasted Alphabet’s initial yield. For those of you still in the dark we are proud to be presenting Alphabet Brewery’s official Manchester launch at the end of the month. Their beer launch setlist reads like a dream…
KEG :
Kerb Kicker 4.4% pale ale
A to the K 5.6% oatmeal pale ale
Crate Digger 8.3% coffee stout
Flat White 7.8% white breakfast stout
Space Invader 6% pink grapefruit & tarragon saison

Come join us to dot the i’s and cross the t’s on Alphabet’s official Manchester debut!
– Lervig Mini Tap Takeover – Monday 20th April / 7pm
We are none more excited to welcome Lervig and head brewer Mike Murphy over for a mini tap takeover. Globetrotting Mike Murphy, originally from Philadelphia, has brewed beer in Italy, Denmark and in 2010 hooked up with Lervig in Stavanger, Norway. Mike’s curriculum vitae is a glittering peach, one of the kickstarters of the Danish beer revolution – in 2008 Mike was simultaneously brewing the best porter in the world, according to ratebeer, at GourmetBryggeriet, and the best stout in the world – again, according to ratebeer – in the shape of Mikkeller’s Beer Geek Breakfast.
Lervig’s rich vein of form began with Lucky Jack, an American Pale Ale, in 2010 and has been rolling ever forward and ever deeper since, including a to die for Brewer’s Reserve series. We are greatly looking forward to Lervig’s spread which will include five keg beers and a selection of cans. Come down, meet the brewer and dine out on some rare taste opportunities.
“Boring beers are for boring people” Mike Murphy.

– Buxton Brewery Two Ton IPA Launch / Friday 10th April 2015
We love Buxton Brewery, there we said it. The Buxton tap takeover of 2014 was one of our most anticipated brewery hijacks yet and lo, did Buxton deliver! Consistently brilliant, and brilliantly fresh, across their ever-expanding range, we are delirious to announce that Port Street will be housing the eagerly awaited keg drop of Two Ton IPA.
Two Ton IPA (11% ABV) has been in the works for Buxton for months, a love letter from Buxton to the big IPA. Primarily brewed for the upcoming Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Two Ton is so named because of the amount of malt in the grist – two tons, which fills their mash tun to the max. Add a shedload of US and Australian hops to the mix and you can bet we’re in for a royal, imperial ride.
Join us Friday 10th April for the nationwide and international roll-out of Buxton’s latest knockout punch in keg and bottles!
