– Up and Coming / Atom Beers
We’ve been waiting a while but finally they’re here! Atom Beers are on the bar and we couldn’t be more pleased about it! Atom is a much anticipated new brewery with a difference. Yes they make great beers incorporating both traditional, and more innovative styles and flavours, what more do you need you ask? Well nothing I suppose but co founders Allan Rice and Sarah Thackray also have other aims, as well as providing us with some tasty beverages they are using them to educate! This is not just for beer geeks but anyone with an interest, Atom are using the science of beer to educate people about the beers they drink and the complexity of brewing as a whole. If that sounds like your kind of thing they encourage people to visit and tour the brewery, always a fun outing!
What you have with Atom is people who’re genuinely super interested in all aspects of beer and brewing who want to share the wealth both of the liquid and information variety. Everyone knows a key part of science is experimentation, we can’t wait to see what other great beers they come up with!
– Meet The Brewer with Hopcraft / Monday 23rd June
doors 5.30pm / event starts at 6.15pm
£13 advance from the bar or call 0161 237 9949
Hopcraft Brewery in Pontyclun, South Wales, has been in full production for just over a year now and has been in the public eye since mid 2012. It is a partnership of Tom Barlow and Steve Lewis from Pixie Springs and Gazza Prescott from Steel City in Sheffield. Together they have opened up a new 10 barrel brewery to fulfil their needs, a place to make Pixie Springs beverages on a bigger scale, and also for Gaz to have a place to make crazy hoppy liquids.
Considering they’re relatively new, Hopcraft have made quite a number of beers. As their name suggests they’re not afraid of using hops liberally and have a tendency to use them well, a good example of this is their highly drinkable Mosaic Plus, this is a common theme throughout their beers. The guys have also made some pretty exciting, quite different beers such as Graveyard Eyes a Sorachi Aci porter that has wowed staff and customers alike. As they are already demonstrating a high proficiency in their hop use and a pioneering attitude towards making new and interesting beers it seems highly likely we can expect more good things from this brewery.
– IPA Smackdown! – Thursday 29th May
We were all greatly saddened by the loss of the Ultimate Warrior earlier this year and it seemed only appropriate to us at Indy Man Brew House to add our own efforts to the many homages to the late, great famous wrestler. Our friends at Black Jack and Hopcraft agreed. Together we brewed a tasty tribute in the form of a quite delicious Red IPA… only to find out that there was one final challenger the Ultimate Warrior had to face!
Hopcraft had also taken part in another Red IPA collaboration brew with the guys from Northern Monk Brewing Co. and Crafty Monk was the result!
After some investigation we realised that behind the cowl of the Crafty Monk there hid the visage of pretender Brett ‘The Hitman’ Hop! Honour must be satisfied, which of course can mean only one thing.
So we have organised a Smackdown in order for the Ultimate Warrior to prove without any doubt that even posthumously he is capable of making the Ultimate Splash.
Please come, show your support and watch a legend live on… 7pm / Thursday 29th May
– An Evening with Founders / Wednesday 14th May
6pm (upstairs in the saloon)
£20 advance from the bar or give us a call on 0161 237 9949
Joining us for the evening will be Founders very own Mike Stevens (co-Founder) and John Green (President). We will be sampling five beers in the comfort of our upstairs saloon, places are limited to 40, so grab your ticket now!
Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers both had steady jobs when they decided to chase their dreams and open a brewery – which meant quitting their jobs and taking out huge loans. They figured if you’re going to live life, you ought to live it hard and without regrets.
Founders are a group of passionate beer enthusiasts, a brewery which has grown around a simple philosophy: “We don’t brew beer for the masses. Instead, our beers are crafted for a chosen few, a small cadre of renegades and rebels who enjoy a beer that pushes the limits of what is commonly accepted as taste. In short, we make beer for people like us.”
