– World Cup 2022 – We’re Showing It

The World Cup & Mince Pies: name a less iconic duo. Regardless, we’ll be opening up our saloon for this festive festival of football, 20 November to 18 December. Free entry, no bookings, walk ups only.

– 11 Nov: Balance x Polyspore – Wild Ale w/ Mushrooms launch

Via Balance Brewing & Blending –

After a long time in the planning, testing and tasting we’re finally ready to announce the launch of our collaboration. We’ve created two beers – Freckled Chestnut and Lion’s Mane, both of which are diverse in flavour and a real showcase of all the work that has gone into them. We selected a single barrel for it’s funky, tart yet restrained character and used this as our base.

Next Friday we’ll be taking over upstairs at Port Street to provide beer and tunes till late! Polyspore Soundsystem makes its debut appearance, a HiFi rig and carefully selected records. There’ll be plenty of Balance beer on tap and in bottle so come on down and join us for a knees up

– Sierra Nevada Tap Takeover

Iconic California brewery Sierra Nevada shook things up in the beer world in the 80’s and paved the way for the beer industry as we now know it. These days, they’re continuing to create great beer and pushing boundaries as they explore sustainability in their business. It’s for this reason we’ve chosen them as one of the few international brewers we’re invited to IMBC and we’re overjoyed to invite them to take over our taps as part of IMBC Fringe. Including three vintaged of their fantastic Bigfoot barley wine, and (maybe more impressively) three incredibly rare in the UK beers, all versions of Sierra Nevadas iconic ‘Pale Ale’, and get this, they’re on bloody cask.

Hazy Little Thing IPA (6.7%) Juicy hops and silky malt meet in a Hazy Little Thing with fruit-forward flavor, modest bitterness, and a smooth finish. Aggressively dry-hopped and less filtered because the haze is where the flavor is.

Bigfoot barleywine (9.6^%) is a beast of a beer, packed with bittersweet malt and heaps of aggressive whole-cone Pacific Northwest hops. Cascade is bursting with zesty grapefruit flavor and aroma from the high levels of myrcene oil. It lends a pleasant and balanced bitter. The bright citrus is backed by some soft floral and spice.}
