– New England Tap Takeover w/ Trillium & Burlington, Friday 4th August
I don’t want to change the world
I’m not looking for a New England
I’m just looking for a hazy beer.
Doesn’t quite work does it? Anyway, New England tap takeover, here at Port Street Beer House, this weekend. We’ve got 3 beers a piece from the legends over at Trillium Brewing and Burlington Brewing, which means you’ll be able to sample –
Burlington –
It’s Complicated Being A Wizard DIPA 8%
It’s Complicated Being a Wizard is our flagship Double IPA. Pours a radiant glowing orange with which we immerse massive quantities of hops for a bold hop flavor. Brewed with Barley, Wheat Malt, and Flaked Oats. Hopped with Simcoe, Idaho 7, and Chinook for flavors and aromas of Ripe Papaya, Nectarines, Orange Zest, and Dank Cannabis
Uncanny Valley IPA 7%
Uncanny Valley is a New England style IPA hopped with Mosaic and Citra hops. Flavors and aromas of Ripe Mango, Pine Needles, Tangerine Zest, Watermelon, and Stone Fruit. The hop flavors wash over a balanced malt bill of Barley, Flaked Oats, Wheat Malt, Vienna Malt, and Raw Wheat to hold up the bold hops.
Neon Nightlights Gose w/ Key Lime, Kumquat, Seasalt 5.5%
Illuminate your senses with Neon Nightlights, a vibrant and invigorating gose style ale that captures the essence of a tropical paradise, punctuated by the effervescent glow of a bustling cityscape. This audacious brew combines the refreshing tartness of Key Lime, the zesty tang of kumquats, and the grounding salinity of sea salt, culminating in a sensory experience that transports you to an electrifying world of flavor.
Trillium –
Dot Ave DIPA 8.2%
Beginning at Milton Lower Mills and spanning all the way to the Fort Point Channel, Dorchester Avenue dates back to 1805 and is rich with history. It’s also the namesake of our Nelson Sauvin dry-hopped addition to the Avenue Series. Presenting a glowing deep yellow, Dot Ave offers an aroma with layers of depth and nuance. Immediately apparent is the tropical shade of the Nelson variety, with notes of mango and pineapple jumping from the glass. As the beer warms, underlying notes of concord grape, lemon verbena, and earthy pine make an appearance. Soft, palate-coating, and highly drinkable, Dot Ave finishes balanced and evolves throughout each sip.
Riwaka Dry Hopped Fort Point Pale 6.6%
Presenting a gorgeous deep yellow with a hazy glow, Riwaka Dry Hopped Fort Point offers a vibrant bouquet of fresh fruit. Tropical fruit, pithy grapefruit, and orange lead the way, with a subtle dank edge that rounds out the sip with a gentle bitterness. Medium-bodied and refreshingly drinkable.
Summer Street IPA 7.2%
Same distinctive grain bill as the other “Street” IPA’s, but heavily dry hopped with Simcoe. Our treatment of Simcoe results in beautifully balanced aromatics and provides a satisfying depth of hop-driven flavor. Summer Street IPA bursts with scents of spicy pine, lemon, and grape juice while focused flavors of citrus, pear, and essence of pine wash over the palate. Finish is dry with moderate, resinous bitterness.
Serving til they’re gone –
– Wimbledon 2023 – July 3rd to 16th
No, we won’t be doing a strawberries & cream IPA, but – Port Street is showing Wimbledon! 3rd to the 16th July. Our big screen in the saloon will have the action on for the entire fortnight, showing every ace, lob, and unforced error (during the hours that we’re open of course – and as long the BBC are showing it).
Our pizza serving sister site The Beagle in Chorlton will have it on too, for those who prefer their netplay with a serving of New York style pizza.
No booking necessary.
– Garage – Soup IPA Day. Friday 12th May.
INT. JERRY’S APARTMENT – FRIDAY DAY
Jerry, George, and Elaine are discussing their plans for the evening.
ELAINE: Boy, I’m in the mood for a cheeseburger.
JERRY: We gotta go to the Soup place.
ELAINE: What Soup place?
GEORGE: Oh, Port Street are taking part in Soup Day, Kramer’s going.
JERRY: He’s always raving about it. I finally got to taste Soup IPA the other day, and I tell you this – you will be stunned.
ELAINE: Stunned by an IPA?
JERRY: You can’t drink Soup IPA standing up. Your knees buckle.
ELAINE: Huh, alright, let’s go
JERRY: There’s only one caveat — the brewery who make Soup only celebrate it once a year, they’re a little temperamental.
ELAINE: Why? What happens if you order a Soup IPA on Saturday?
JERRY: The Port Street Staff will yell at you, but you’ll still get a Soup.
— SCENE ENDS —
4 varietals of the iconic @garagebeerco IPA, pouring all day Friday. Once it is gone, it is gone – and there’ll be no Soup for you.
– Big Bank Holiday Sour Showcase – 5 to 8 May
It is a situation that’s happened to each and every one of us before: you return to work the Tuesday after a Bank Holiday, and the first thing you get asked is: did you drink any massive sours over the big banky, pal? Too often, the response has to come in the negative: no, I did not indulge in any massive sours, or any variants thereof, over the big banky – in fact, it was a very small banky for me.
NOT THIS TIME THOUGH! From 5th May to Banky Holiday 8 May (as long as they last that long), we’ll be having a sour showcase, which means you’ll be able to return to your colleagues with a triumphant yell when they ask about your sour intake: YES I DID HAVE A BIG BANKY, THANK YOU CARL, I HAD THE FOUR BEST SOURS OF MY LIFE
We’ll be pouring –
Holy Goat – Guavanaut, 6.8%
Tropical Sour with Pink Guava and Passionfruit.
Primary fermented with a blend of Brettanomyces which throws out huge pineapple, tropical and stone fruit flavours, we refermented this base beer with over 220g/l of pink guava and passionfruit. The resulting beer is an astral voyage of tropical fruit and funk.
Queer Brewing – Mischief Run, 4%
Hedgerow Berliner Weisse
Based on a traditional Berliner Weisse recipe of pilsner and wheat malt, with just a few oats for extra body, Mischief Run is a fruit-forward but balanced sour, a light and cloudy pink with lots of blackberry, and a little floral gooseberriness. It’s a light, delicate, and balanced Berliner, with medium acidity and gooseberry tartness on the finish. There’ll be no hedging your bets with this one.
Pastore – Totalmente Tropicale, 3.8%
Fruited Berliner Weisse
A light spritzy berliner weisse style sour beer made with pineapples and grapefruits
Alvinne – Wild West Kriek Framboos, 6%
Flemish Sour Ale
Wild West is the barrel-aged version of Omega. Complex, refined flavours, originating from the tannins of the Bordeaux barrel and the wine that initially filled it create a light, refreshing sipping beer that blurs the differences between beer and wine.
